We were recently asked by one of our luxury High Rise properties to assist with the installation of their EV Charging Stations. Code in this municipality required that the power be disconnected when water is detected where the stations are located in their garage.

Two PipeBurst Pro wireless sensors were placed at different levels of the garage. The lower sensor notifies management and engineering when water is detected entering the garage. The second sensor is located higher at the point of the charging stations. It communicates through the Gateway to send a signal to a relay to disconnect the EV power when water is detected.

As many EV charging stations are located underground, they are susceptible to runoff of heavy rains resulting in a potentially dangerous situation. In coastal areas, storm surge can also cause significant flooding in garage areas.
